Safer Spaces

The Big Difference is committed to ensuring all visitors feel safe and welcomed when they attend the venue, which is why our staff have attended several Safer Spaces training sessions in order to equip them with the knowledge & skills to provide an inclusive environment and assist should an issue arise.

Our team have accredited training in Understanding & Responding to Sexual Harassment and Assault following a session hosted by specialist trainers from Good Night Out, which gave information and advice on how to respond to reports of assault in the venue, as well as how to proactively notice inappropriate behaviour and safely intervene to prevent this going further. Key aspects of the training include the creation of an accountable environment where people feel comfortable and able to share what’s happened to them and the tools to enable our staff to respond to unwelcome behaviour in the workplace or at events in a way that is calm yet effective.

Venue staff are also trained in Disability, Equality & Customer Service following a session from Attitude Is Everything, where a specialist trainer gave advice on best practices at the venue so that we can build as accessible and inclusive an experience for our visitors as possible.
